Sushi. Probably one of my favorite words in the entire world. My friend Charlotte (you should check out her blog it’s super cute!) suggested we check out Mira Sushi for dinner. I had never heard of it before, but I’m always up for sushi! The menu really intrigued me. It was asian fusion with some modern elements. For starters we got a few items. We started with my favorite, edamame ($5). But this edamame was spicy. Such a wonderful spin on traditional edamame. It had a nice kick to it, I highly recommend it if you like spicy food.
The next item was picked on a whim. I don’t remember the name because it was something obscure. I’m going to call this dish Octopus Balls ($9). This was a ball that contained octopus in it. There really is no other way to describe it. But, it was pretty good. If you like octopus give this a try. It had a sweet sauce on top, and really melted in your mouth.
Now onto the best part…sushi! We ordered two rolls. The roll of the left was called The Crystal ($14). It had scallops, topped with white tuna and avocado with a special sauce. This roll wasn’t my favorite. Something about it was off to me. I’m not sure if it was the sauce but it tasted a little bitter. The roll on the right however was fantastic. This was the Sakura Roll ($13). It contained spicy tuna and avocado topped with spicy yellowtail, toasted almonds and a raspberry sauce. This was such a delight. I was a little worried the raspberry sauce would be overwhelming but it just added a slight sweetness which was great. The almonds also added a nice crunch to the roll. I would definitely recommend this roll!
Overall, I really enjoyed Mira Sushi. The vibe of the restaurant is very cool and relaxing. The food is delicious and it’s different than your standard sushi restaurant.
